Cuba by Caribbean Tours
Cuba
Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean, is a joyful journey through time: in Havana, classic cars rattle through the colonial old town, while in Trinidad pastel-coloured mansions shine. Cigars, rum and music are omnipresent and shape the island’s unmistakable way of life.
Dream beaches such as Varadero or Playa Ancón, the tobacco fields of the Viñales Valley and the lush mountains of the Sierra Maestra also make Cuba highly attractive in terms of landscape. This diverse natural scenery complements the country’s cultural richness in an impressive way.
The population, with Afro-Spanish roots, is known for being proud, warm-hearted and creative. Despite economic challenges, music, dance and art are felt everywhere. Cuba is considered one of the safest islands in the Caribbean – ideal for travellers seeking authenticity, culture and rhythm.

Good to know
Cuba combines colonial splendour, socialist everyday life and Caribbean joie de vivre – like a journey back in time. Classic cars roll through Havana, tobacco fields shape the countryside. Those travelling beyond the resorts experience culture, nature and a safe, authentic country full of music, rum and history.
Flight connections
Cuba is served by direct flights from Europe. Airlines such as Iberia and Air France/KLM offer connections via their hubs. Canada and Mexico are also well connected. For flight times and price comparisons, Google Flights is recommended.
Entry requirements
Tourists require a tourist card (visa, usually valid for 30 days and extendable). The passport must be valid for at least 6 months. International health insurance is mandatory. US citizens are subject to special regulations. Current entry requirements are provided by Cuban embassies.
Best time to travel
The dry season from November to April is ideal: sunny, 25–30 °C, low humidity. May to October is the rainy season with showers and hurricane risk (especially August–October). The sea is warm year-round. Nights can be cooler from December to February – the dry season is optimal for round trips.
Safety
Cuba is considered a very safe travel destination. Violent crime is rare, but petty crime (e.g. pickpocketing) can occur. Use official taxis and avoid dark alleys. Political restraint is advised. The greatest risks are road accidents and hurricanes.
Health
No mandatory vaccinations for travellers from Europe; standard vaccinations and hepatitis A are recommended. Dengue occurs – mosquito protection is important. Do not drink tap water. Pharmacies are often poorly stocked – bring personal medication. For up-to-date health advice, consult HealthyTravel.
