Below, Stephan Stober (Managing Director) introduces Neptuno Colombia Travel’s various seat-in trips, their special features and possible extension programmes.
How do your four seat-in trips differ – and which one suits which type of guest?
Highlights of Colombia: This tour is the ideal introduction to the country, covering the key highlights in a relatively short time. We designed it to offer excellent value for money, and it can easily be combined with additional, tailor-made modules before or after the trip.
Before the tour, for example: Amazonas, Llanos, La Macarena or Pacific Coast. After the tour: a beach extension in Cartagena or at one of the many hotels on the Rosario Islands.
This is also our best-seller and suitable for everyone: young and old, families, nature lovers, culturally interested travellers, etc. We scheduled the departures to fit perfectly with Edelweiss direct flights on Wednesdays and Sundays: the tour starts on a Wednesday and ends on a Sunday. If a beach extension is desired, it can ideally be added until Wednesday. The trip can also be booked as a combination with Panama.
Fascinating Colombia: This tour is especially close to our hearts. It combines classic highlights with places that are not always included in Colombia itineraries, such as Barichara, San Agustín and Popayán. It offers outstanding cultural and natural variety. Logistically it is a bit more demanding, with a few longer drives, but guests get to discover more off-the-beaten-path locations. A true highlight is the archaeological sites of San Agustín – one of my personal favourite places. The tour ends in Medellín, which is an ideal base to explore either the Pacific or Caribbean coast individually afterwards. From here there are daily direct flights to Cartagena, Santa Marta and Nuquí or Bahía Solano – where the next adventure is already waiting.
Active & Adventure Tour: Perfect for guests who want to experience the country actively. A key highlight is the contrast between the two treks – first in the Andes, then in the jungle. I have personally accompanied this tour several times. In my experience, travelling actively makes the memories of a destination even more lasting. This tour is not only for adventurers or athletes – on the contrary: anyone who enjoys moving and being outdoors will love it.
Colombia Highlights – Short Version: A very short highlights tour. The idea was to offer a programme that is ideal for combining – either with another country or with individual, tailor-made modules to other regions of Colombia. This tour can also be combined with Panama.
What characterises your seat-in trips – and what special experiences await guests?
We always aim for a healthy balance between exciting excursions and experiences that highlight what is special and authentic about each destination, and more relaxed moments where guests can simply enjoy the here and now. In Bogotá and Cartagena, guests stay in colonial houses in the historic old town; in the Coffee Region, they stay at a coffee finca; and on the Caribbean coast they experience the unique Caribbean atmosphere during a walk through Cartagena’s beautiful old town.
Through our tours, guests experience Colombia up close: during excursions and in small accommodations, they have close contact with the local population – ensuring an authentic experience.
Which extension programmes do you recommend?
We offer a wide range of options and packages on Latinconnect, including:
– Amazonas for nature lovers
– Los Llanos for wildlife watching
– Pacific Coast for guests looking for something special, remote and unspoilt
– Caribbean coast hotel stays for divers or travellers who simply want to relax on a dream beach
– San Jose del Guaviare – still a hidden gem, but a fantastic destination that will certainly gain popularity in the future
Two of your seat-in trips can be booked with two different accommodation categories – how does that work?
These are neighbouring hotels, or – in the Coffee Region, where the fincas are set in the middle of nature – simply different room categories within the same finca. We see it as a major advantage that guests can book the tours in two different categories.
