Dear Stephan, you had a very good reason for not attending this year\u2019s ITB (you became a father). How many colleagues are currently supporting you in the Neptuno Travel Colombia team \u2013 besides Camila Gaviria and Lena Bartelt, who represented you excellently \u2013 and what distinguishes your team?<\/strong><\/p>

It felt a bit strange not to be at ITB for the first time in many years \u2013 but of course there was a wonderful and very important reason. Our incoming department has now grown to 19 people \u2013 a diverse team with different nationalities and personalities, where everyone contributes their individual strengths.<\/p>

In your most recent webinar series, you spoke about your latest product developments. Could you briefly introduce your new e-bike programmes?<\/strong><\/p>

We offer fantastic tailor-made e-bike tours throughout the country. Our e-bike excursion to Zipaquir\u00e1 and Guatavita combines physical activity with culture: on two wheels, guests visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquir\u00e1 and the Guatavita Lagoon \u2013 two major highlights in the surroundings of Bogot\u00e1, perfectly paired with an active e-bike day.\nThe e-bikes are available in different sizes (S, M, L), making the tour suitable for families as well.<\/p>

You are also increasingly focusing on Colombia\u2019s \u201cundiscovered Pacific coast\u201d. What can travellers expect in this region?<\/strong><\/p>

Colombia\u2019s Pacific coast is a true hidden gem \u2013 wild, remote and absolutely fascinating. Dense rainforest meets the ocean, and the biodiversity is extraordinary: monkeys, poison dart frogs, exotic birds \u2013 and between July and October, humpback whales can even be spotted.\nUnlike the Caribbean coast of Colombia, there are no large, well-equipped hotels on white sandy beaches here. Instead, nature lovers in particular will be thrilled by the Pacific coast, its small eco-lodges and vast, unspoilt beaches. The lodges La Kuka and El Almejal are especially beautiful.<\/p>

Where do you currently stand in terms of sustainability, and where do you want to go in the coming years?<\/strong><\/p>

We have been TourCert certified since 2016 and, of course, meet all national sustainability requirements for tourism companies. For a long time, we felt that although we were making steady progress, we lacked concrete measures to make our trips even more sustainable.<\/p>

Today, we are proud to have calculated the CO\u2082 footprint of our Colombia journeys in detail. This allows us to offer our guests the option to make their trip carbon neutral. Compensation is carried out through local projects with recognised standards, supporting reforestation, biodiversity protection and sustainable land use \u2013 directly here in the country our guests are exploring.<\/p>

For World Earth Day on 22 April, we are taking action:\nWe will cover the CO\u2082 compensation for all new bookings received between April and June 2025. Of course, tour operators and guests are welcome to participate in the future \u2013 we are simply taking the first step.<\/p>

My mother (an experienced Latin America traveller) returned last week from a three-week group tour in Colombia and said she would need quite some time to process all the impressions. What makes Colombia so diverse, and how do you enable encounters with contemporary witnesses or key figures in the country\u2019s historical and social development?<\/strong><\/p>

We can relate to that very well \u2013 Colombia leaves a lasting impression on many travellers. It is not a country you simply \u201cconsume\u201d. It is intense, diverse, surprising \u2013 and sometimes even contradictory.<\/p>

What makes Colombia so varied is the incredible diversity within a relatively small area: snow-capped Andean peaks, tropical rainforests, coffee landscapes, Caribbean beaches, desert regions and vibrant metropolises. Added to this are cultural contrasts, indigenous traditions, colonial architecture, modern art and a palpable social dynamism.<\/p>

Creating encounters that go beyond pure sightseeing is especially important to us. That\u2019s why we work closely with local projects, initiatives and committed individuals. One example is our \u201cMaking Peace\u201d and \u201cBreaking Borders\u201d tours in Bogot\u00e1, where travellers meet representatives of civil society and gain insight into different perspectives on the peace process and Colombia\u2019s social development.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
